Balancing State Support & Pressure to Promote Competency-Based Education
On February 28, 2017 the Regional Deeper Learning Initiative hosted a Cross State Conversation on CBE featuring David Ruff, Executive Director of the Great Schools Partnership, and Mary Ann Snider, Deputy Commissioner of the Rhode Island Department of Education. In this recording, David provided a framework and explained key considerations for implementing professional development around CBE. Mary Ann presented specific strategies planned and underway in Rhode Island to strengthen teacher capacity—including the development of 100 “champion” educators involved in developing and sharing resources.
